Rev. Weddington was born and raised in North Carolina. He graduated with honors in religious studies and German from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 1974, worked for two years on a Masters of Fine Arts degree at UNC-Chapel Hill and then worked as an actor for 15 years. He answered a call to ministry in 1989 enrolling in Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, from which he graduated magna cum laude in 1994. He was ordained by the United Church of Christ in the fall of 1999.
Rev. Weddington is a personable, gentle, and multi-talented man who loves being a minister and enjoys playing the guitar, fiddle and mandolin. He appreciates the language of faith and endeavors to preach in such a way that he connects Scripture with concrete life examples. He likes listening as people share their stories and welcomes the opportunity to work with people of all ages both within a church setting and the wider community.
“I enjoy opportunities to develop connections between the church and the wider community – by reaching out in times of community crisis or celebration; by taking an active role in the community’s work to care for the poor, the hurt, and the excluded; and by making the church available to the community as a place of safety and hospitality….There are so many ways we in the church can express our gratitude for God’s boundless love, but especially through ministries of healing, hospitality, advocacy and reconciliation.”
Rev. Weddington began his ministry in Littleton in August, 2010. He moved to New Hampshire from Delaware with his wife, Wilma, and three cats. Wilma is a 4th grade special education inclusion teacher in Waterford, Vermont.
