Works with the purpose of creating opportunities for the people of this congregation to share God’s love with the community. These are big opportunities, like the Community Fun Night in the park or the Riverwalk for MS, or smaller opportunities like the Random Acts of Kindness initiative.
The Community Outreach Group (COG) plans 3 or 4 larger activities throughout the year involving the community at large interspersed with smaller Random Acts of Kindness. This past year we hosted a free Community Pancake Breakfast on the Saturday before Palm Sunday on March 28th and will be doing it again in 2016.
On June 27th they hosted a “Community Fun Night” at Remich Park and offered "low-tech" games and food for free. They worked with the Christian Education committee on the second annual RiverWalk for MS on September 12th encouraging members and the community to raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis, a devastating illness.
The ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ initiative is a way to show love and appreciation for some of the public service providers in our town. In September they brought goodies to the Littleton Fire Station for one of their staff meetings, in October for the Littleton Police Department and in December for the Department of Health and Human Services.
They have a lot of fun thinking up and implementing ways to bring God’s love into the community. The group is small and they welcome anyone to join for a meeting, for a few meetings, or a particular planning session.
What is your passion? What is your love language? How would you like to see the congregation share God’s love with our community? As the lyrics of the song go ‘Love isn’t love ‘til you give it away’.
Current members include Tim Gould (chairperson), Wilma Weddington, Linda Warden, Alice Muh, David Weddington, Estelle LaFleur, Kim Smith and Pam Nute.
