Interim Pastor Announcement
The Church Council is pleased to announce that the Reverend Peter Ilgenfritz has accepted the council’s call to become the interim pastor for The First Congregational Church of Littleton. Rev. Ilgenfritz is an ordained minister with full standing in the United Church of Christ. He comes to us with 35 years’ experience, most recently having served as a sabbatical minister in Massachusetts and an interim pastor in Maine.
Rev. Ilgenfritz has accepted a one-year renewable contract as our interim pastor, beginning on September 6; his first Sunday with us will be on September 11. During this time of interim he will be responsible for the full range of pastoral duties, including: worship leadership, congregational care, outreach, church growth and development, and serving as head of staff. As interim pastor, he will also lead our congregation through developmental tasks intended to support us in our search for a settled pastor.
As we begin this new chapter at the FCC, the council would like to express our gratitude to the congregation for your patience, prayers, and words of support and encouragement through this process. An extra measure of gratitude is due to Rachel Clark for scheduling weekly supply preachers, making sure our Sunday worship services were fully covered during our time of pastoral transition.
Peter is eager to begin his work pastoring the FCC and we are excited for him to meet the congregation and our church community. On September 11, The Reverend Richard Slater, our NH UCC conference minister, will be leading our congregation in worship as we covenant with Rev. Ilgenfritz. There will be a reception after the worship service in the Fellowship Hall to meet and welcome Peter and we will plan other opportunities for our church family to meet him. The council will have more specific information regarding his schedule, office hours, and contact information soon.
Faithfully yours,
The Church Council
